You work in an international and agile R&D team on the forefront of photovoltaic technology. Your task is to lead an R&D department within our solar cell development, and to extend our technology leadership in photovoltaics through pioneering innovations. You will manage the R&D activities on reliability and long-term stability of perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells, and will therefore be a key enabler of this uprising technology. 

  • You lead the newly created Department Tandem Cell Reliability, and are thereby responsible for the disciplinary and technical management of the team members. 
  • You are responsible for the development of reliable and long-term stable tandem solar cells in our state-of-the-art R&D facility in Thalheim near Leipzig/Halle/Berlin. 
  • You will take over the technical project management of development projects.
  • You guide the experts for the interaction between tandem cell characteristics and module interconnection & encapsulation to ensure a long-term stable future product under field conditions.
  • The research and development focus of your team is the reliability of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells, with a focus on electrical, chemical and mechanical stability.
  • Your team identifies failure modes and develop methods for their long-term stable suppression. 
  • You develop defect models for tandem solar cells/modules and their components, develop and evaluate accelerated aging tests/protocols, and verify them experimentally in our state-of-the art module test center and with field data from our world-wide module test fields.
  • You closely collaborate within an international interdisciplinary R&D and manufacturing network to identify and steer development activities.
  • You initiate experiments, and monitor and accompany their execution at critical points.
  • You create high-quality evaluations and reports of your results and provide clear decision templates to management.
  • You accompany the introduction of new developments into mass production at our international manufacturing sites and solve problems that arise.
  • In a dynamic team, you actively participate in discussions and make suggestions for new branches and directions of research and development.

Combines passion with know-how - your profile:
  • You have successfully completed your engineering or science degree, and ideally have obtained a PhD.
  • You have gained extensive knowledge and experience in the physics, fabrication and characterization of perovskite solar cells, ideally of perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells and their reliability. 
  • You convince with your ability to deal with conflicts and are an organisational talent.
  • You are goal-oriented and have a systematic and analytical working style, as well as decision-making and assertiveness skills. Team work and organizational skills are equally among your strengths.
  • You ideally have gained special knowledge in the areas of statistical data analysis and DoE (planning, implementation and evaluation of experiments).
  • You ideally have worked in the PV or semiconductor industry.
  • You are confident in dealing with MS Office and ideally have in-depth knowledge of statistical software.
  • Very good spoken and written English skills round off your profile and enable you to work successfully in a global company. You are willing to embark on business trips worldwide. Fluent German is a plus.
